Team and Group Reflective Coaching
Reflect4Change delivers team and group reflective coaching programmes for professionals underpinned by the principles of systemic coaching i.e. coaching for the benefit of the system (a system can be a business, a nonprofit organisation or a public sector organisation, a sub-team, department or a group) with the aim to build reflective practice to optimise the outcomes for the system. This type of reflective coaching develops an understanding of all the parts of the system and brings together individuals who can support, challenge and learn from each other. A frequent question that collectives of people ask is ‘are we a team or a group?’ The answer is not always obvious and might require in depth exploration. However, there is a quick way to arrive to an answer by asking members of the collective ‘do we have a unifying purpose that requires us to work interdependently?’ ‘Do we practice interdependent tasks and how do we feel about our individual and collective outcomes?’ If the answers to these questions are positive then, it’s highly likely that you are a ‘team’ and not just a ‘group’. To add a little more complexity, if your interdependent collaborative work takes place across organisations from different socio-economic sectors i.e. public, nonprofit, private then achieving collaborative outcomes that benefit all the system actors is more challenging but possible. There are numerous case studies of successful cross-sector partnerships that achieve excellent alignment of purpose and transformational outcomes, not only for the members of the small collective that are part of the partnership but, also for society. We refer to this practice as cross-sector collaboration. If you are interested in such cases you might like to check out my papers on the additional resources tab.
